How to Arrive & Get Around Shekou
Here are some useful taxi cards for SIS and the Ferry Terminal
If you are arriving to Shenzhen Airport
It’s easy to take a taxi to arrive to Shekou, a simple 20min ride. If you are going straight to your hotel, make sure you get a ‘taxi card’ with the address of the hotel in Chinese and directions on how to get there, so you may show the taxi driver. Taxis are very reasonably priced, and if you get a meter taxi, you can see exactly what you should pay for the ride (add 3RMB to the taxi fare, it’s an extra charge required by law). If you are arriving to the Parkside Campus directly, download and print out this ‘taxi card’.
If you are arriving to Hong Kong Airport
Fly into Hong Kong International Airport — Direct ferry service to Hong Kong International Airport is a short and convenient 25 minute ferry ride with no need to process Hong Kong immigration.
Shekou is accessible by direct ferry from Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai. (45 minutes to 1.5 hours).
The Shenzhen Bay (“Shenzhen Wan”) bridge links the New Territories to Shekou, providing for a 40 minute travel time by coach from the Hong Kong airport, and efficient customs with shorter queues than at the other Hong Kong border crossings at Futian and Luohu.
